Live Music with Singer, Dave DeLuca - Family Program
Join performer, Dave DeLuca for a fun evening of live music. The family evening program will be held outdoors, in the Gazebo across from the Lake Wales Public Library. Food trucks will be on site to provide delicious fare, while enjoying songs from legends such as Elvis Presley, Neil Diamond and Frank Sinatra. Youth Services Programs - Teens Ages 12 - 18
Summer 2023 will have a fun variety of programs for teens. The Lake Wales Library Association is pleased to partner with the Mountain Lake Community Services, Inc. and generous support from The McCance Foundation, to provide six great programs for students age 12 though 18. Beginning June 15, 1 p.m. programs will be held each Thursday in the LW Public Library’s Schoenoff Meeting Room. All programs are free and open to teens. Youth Services Summer 2023 - Kids
The LW Library Association, with major support from the Mountain Lake Community Services, Inc. and Kiwanis Foundation of Lake Wales will sponsor weekly Summer Programs for School age kids. The All Together Now themed weekly fun programs will begin Thursday, June 15, 10:30 a.m. featuring Gatorland. The programs continue each Thursday through July 13, and will be held at Candlelight Christian Academy, 209 East Sessoms Ave. Lake Wales. The final Thursday program, Touch A Truck begins at 10:30 in the library’s west parking lot and along Cypress Garden Lane. Storyteller and Chautauqua Scholar, Carrie Sue Ayvar presents More than Orange Blossoms: The Feisty, Fabulous Females of Florida.
Though not always in the history books, the women who helped build, form, shape, and develop the state have inspired hope and possibility. Stories of strong, courageous women like Julia Tuttle, known as the Mother of Miami, or Mary McCleod Bethune, daughter of enslaved parents who went on to become an advisor to several US presidents, and other brave women who influenced and impacted their communities, Florida, and the nation. Discover and rediscover some of the women who grew and shaped the state!

Dr. Martha Bireda will join the Lake Wales Public Library for a Black History Month Program, Powerful Doctoring Women. The program will take place in the Lake Wales Public Library’s Schoenoff Meeting Room, at 6 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2023.
This scholarly presentation is a partnership between the Florida Humanities Council and the Lake Wales Library Association.
Dr. Martha Bireda is the Director of the Blanchard House Museum of African American History and Culture of Charlotte County. For over twenty-five years, she was a consultant and trainer for issues related to race, ethnicity, gender, and class for school districts, law enforcement agencies, and other organizations. She is the author of A Time for Change: How White Supremacy Ideology Harms All Americans, to be released in September 2022, The Womb Rebellion, and is a monthly contributor to wsimag.org.

Adult Paint Along Class

Yoga at the Library
The Lake Wales Public Library hosts 2 weekly yoga classes led by Certified Yoga Instructor, Kelley Bogle.
Kelley has practiced yoga for over 20 years. She was certified to teach by Yoga and Health Center of Orlando in 2003. Yoga is her passion. She loves to explore different schools of thought and pulls her knowledge and practice from them. Classes typically last 75 minutes, starting with breath training and warm up, and end always with relaxation and meditation practice.
