Lake Wales Library Association Board
Melissa Mayer,
President
Melissa Mayer oversaw the Lake Wales Public Library’s Circulation Department for over 20 years. In her capacity as Circulation Services – Library Specialist, she worked with the day to day operation of the Circulation Department until her retirement in December 2022.
Melissa, and her husband, Max, have three adult children, three grandsons. They have owned Mayer Jewelers for over 40 years.
Tammy Shields,
Vice President
Tammy Shields is a retired secondary teacher. She spent her career as an educator at Lake Wales Senior High School. She is active in our community and has a strong interest in the Lake Wales Public Library’s services for youth. Tammy serves on the Lake Wales Library Association’s Finance Committee.
Rob Conner,
Treasurer
Rob Conner has been a LWLA Board Member for 18 years. In 2020 Rob retired from a long career as the Firm Administrator for the law firm of Peterson & Myers, P.A. Rob chairs the Lake Wales Library Association’s Finance Committee. Mr. Conner is a life-long resident of Lake Wales.
Jodie Schmidt,
Secretary
Jodie Schmidt has been a member of the Lake Wales Library Association Board since 2011 assisting with the organization of the first membership drive. Jodie created the LW Library Association’s sponsored Sewing Classes for children and adults. She served as the Lake Wales Library Association’s President for four years prior to becoming the Secretary. She retired in 2020 from a long career as a Dermatological Nurse Practitioner.
Diana Jones,
Board Member
Diana Jones has called Lake Wales home for over fifty years. She, and her husband, David, raised their three children in Lake Wales.
Diana was a pre-school teacher at First United Methodist Pre-School for 29 years, before retiring in 2018. Diana loved her career working with children. She understands the influence libraries have on the lives of these library users.
Jill Billings,
Board Member
Jill Billings began her service to the Lake Wales Library Association Board in 2020.
After more than 31 years in Banking and Financial services, as well and careers in retail and government agencies, Jill retired in 2019.
Jill has been involved with the Lake Wales Public Library’s Adult Lifelong Learning programs, participating in many programs and classes.
Jill serves on the Lake Wales Library Association’s Finance Committee.
Glenda Morgan,
Membership Chairman
Glenda Morgan has been a LWLA Board Member for over 30 years. She is a past president of the Lake Wales Library Association. Before her retirement in 2012, Glenda was in private practice as a mental health counselor and psychologist.
Judi Corriveau,
Board Member
Judi Corriveau has served on the Lake Wales Library Association Board for over a decade. Judi’s volunteer service to our community includes years of board membership with Lake Wales Little League Association and weekly volunteerism at the Lake Wales Public Library. She is retired from Parlier Crews Architectural firm where she served as the firm’s Administrative Assistant.
Sallie Schroeder
Board Member
Sallie Lassiter Schroeder retired from a career in education, and most recently working with a children's book company representing many titles and authors to school media specialist and public librarians. Retirement brought her back to Lake Wales from Georgia.
Sallie is the daughter of one of the Lake Wales Library Association’s founders, Virginia Lassiter.
Sallie was born in Lake Wales and has chosen to serve this community as a LWLA Board Member.
Imelda Tice,
Board Member
Imelda Tice has been a Lake Wales resident for 27 years. She is an educator in the Polk County School System, teach mathematics in Haines City High School’s International Baccalaureate program.
Imelda also serves on the Lake Wales Library Board, the City Commission appointed board overseeing the operation of the Lake Wales Public Library.
Mel advocates for her high school students, organizing a robust Teen Volunteer Program at Haines City IB.
